The Director, Materials Management (Lab) oversees DaVita Labs distribution center, supplies management and purchasing teams. This position is responsible for building strong vendor relationships, negotiating best in class contracts and planning effective inventory management, and controls, all within compliance of legal/regulatory standards. The Director of Materials Management is responsible for the leadership and people performance of 40+ direct/indirect reports and an annual purchasing spend of over $40M. This position reports to the Sr. Director, Operations & Innovation (Lab).

Here is what you can expect in the Director, Materials Management role:

-Provide strategic direction for all laboratory supply chain aspects including but not limited to:

• Drive cross-functional strategic objectives to continuously improve overall cost structure and customer experience.
• Consistently evaluate and propose value adding supply chain decisions
• Perform complex business analysis to identify opportunities to improve revenue and profitability
• Implement effective metrics of measure for operational and teammate performance

-Cultivate strong vendor relationships/partnerships

• Negotiate effectively with vendors to establish joint goals and improve cost structure
• Negotiate complex vendor agreement

-Provide appropriate inventory controls and procedures

• Evaluate and establish policy and procedures to proactively address Laboratory testing supply receiving/distribution and equipment needs
• Ensure inventory is being maintained at appropriate levels to best steward resources

-Provide strategic leadership:

• Provide a long term vision + management process to meet organizational objectives
• Coaching, mentoring, disciplining, planning, monitoring and appraising job results through measured behaviors + results
• Identify and develop talent up + down the organization

Qualifications for this role include:

• Bachelor's degree (required)
• Healthcare materials management experience (preferred)
• Complete understanding of formal and informal RFQ, RFI, RFP, Bid Analysis and Awards along with a strong understanding of contracts language and principles (required)
• Experience with lean Manufacturing, Supply Chain, MRP and a proven knowledge in inventory planning and forecasting techniques (required)

• Proficient with negotiation, contracts and sourcing multiple product lines (required)

• 5 years progressive management experience with a preference for multi-location experience (required)
