Controls Engineer

Hitachi Energy is seeking a Controls Engineer for its Transformer Services US engineering team. This role will be based in the Nashville, TN; Earth City, MO; or Crystal Springs, MS office; or remote with up to 20% travel required. This role is a vital member of the engineering team in Transformer Services US. This role will report to the Engineering Manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Design new transformer control cabinets to replace/retrofit existing control cabinets.
  • Prepare the schematic, wiring diagrams and cabinet layout drawings for customer approval and production.
  • Knowledge of selection of transformer components and accessories.
  • Provide guidance for transformer controls testing and review results.
  • Manage quality assurance for vendor built control cabinets by inspecting manufactured cabinets for quality and workmanship issues.
  • Research and analyze new products and trends in the market to apply them into new designs.
  • Provide technical support to field crews. 
  • Create transformer controls scopes in support of the proposal team.

Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering with five or more years of experience or alternatively a combination of studies and ten years or more of transformer experience.
  • Proficiency in CREO or AutoCAD for creating drawings.
  • Knowledge of industry standards - IEEE, IEC, NEMA.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office 365 and compiling technical documents.
  • Initiative, creativity, and great attention to detail.
  • A collaborative, solutions-oriented approach and strong communication skills.
  • Candidate must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States.
  • Up to 20% travel required.
