Job Description

Ingram Barge Company, the leading carrier on America's inland waterways, is seeking a partnership-focused self-starter with superior interpersonal, negotiation, and analytical skills to join our team as a Vendor Management Partner near any of our home offices (Nashville, TN, Paducah, KY, Reserve or Port Allen, LA, or St. Louis, MO). In this fully-remote (or in office if you prefer) role, you will lead the vendor management and contract process for service providers to develop vendors into reliable partners who consistently deliver best-in-class service, manage the fleet lease program to secure critical operating areas, and serve as a leader for additional value-add and cost-saving initiatives.

What you will be doing:

  • Implementing and administering select service and lease agreements:
    • Serving as project leader and primary point of contact through contract development, negotiations, and execution
    • Creating template-based agreements and bid packages in collaboration with stakeholders
    • Providing analysis and recommendations to stakeholders
    • Achieving comprehensive win-win agreements that meet company objectives, maximizing Ingram's financial and operational opportunities, and minimizing risk
    • Ensuring contract compliance, tracking performance metrics, and providing continuous reporting/feedback
    • Managing contract pipeline and lifecycle
  • Leading vendor and lessor/lessee management and development process in designated areas:
    • Partnering with stakeholders, monitoring and assessing market and internal data, and manage vendor/lessor pricing and performance to ensure stakeholder and company needs are consistently met and stable and to identify and address provider/lease/contract needs, risks, and opportunities
    • Partnering with vendors to ensure consistently excellent service, best value pricing, and continuous improvement
    • Proactively managing supplier strategy, development, reviews, issue resolution, and performance
    • Providing reporting, analysis, and presentations to support data-driven vendor/market evaluation and strategic decision-making
  • Identifying and implementing process improvements, expense reduction initiatives, and additional value capture opportunities
  • Additional projects aligned with company needs

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Previous experience with vendor, contract, or project management, procurement, supply chain, logistics, or real estate/lease administration
  • 3-5 years of experience required
  • Previous shoreside marine experience a strong plus
  • Demonstrated ability to proactively and efficiently identify and solve problems
  • Self-starter with the ability to work both independently and in collaboration with others and the drive to deliver meaningful results
  • Ability to effectively communicate and interact with internal and external stakeholders at all levels of the organization
  • Effective negotiation and conflict management skills
  • Ability to travel up to 20%
  • Demonstrated analytical abilities and proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and a variety of tasks simultaneously
  • Positive, solution-oriented mindset with a drive to create partnerships, exceed stakeholder expectations, and deliver meaningful results
