Overview

The Restaurant Host is responsible for providing a professional and inviting first impression of the restaurant.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties & Functions:

You will greet guests in a warm, professional, and timely manner and, after determining the size of their party and accounting for any seating preferences, will escort them to an appropriate table. You will pull out chairs for each guest and ensure that each has the proper tableware available. You will give a brief introduction to the provided menus and answer any immediate questions or concerns the guests may have. You will communicate and track any relevant guest notes or information received. You will answer telephones in a timely and professional manner to provide accurate information and make reservations, as needed. You will develop and implement a deep understanding of luxury service standards.

Supportive Duties & Functions:

In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the manager based upon the particular requirements of the hotel. These supportive functions include, but are not limited to: performing general cleaning tasks using standard hotel cleaning products to adhere to health standards, folding napkins and rolling silverware for all meal periods throughout the day to maintain an adequate supply, assisting with room service orders, and attending the required departmental meetings.

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

    Any combination of education, training, or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • High School Graduate preferred.
  • Prior hospitality experience preferred.
  • Ability to obtain any government licenses or certificates as required for the local area.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to be on your feet for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to navigate uneven stairs and uneven surfaces.
  • Must be able to exert up to 10 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects through crowded spaces.
  • Must be able to meet the appropriate grooming standards.
  • Ability to move or push goods on a hand cart/truck weighing a maximum of 200 pounds preferred.

  • Must be able to work effectively with a diverse population of both employees and guests in an attentive, friendly, courteous, and service-oriented manner.
  • Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying concerns raised by employees and guests.
