LEAD PATIENT CARE TECH

Natchez Trace Youth Academy, a Universal Health Services, Inc. company, has a long history in providing comprehensive behavioral health care services to at-risk youth struggling with extensive mental health issues. Natchez Trace Youth Academy is a highly-structured 115-bed cognitive behavioral program serving adolescent males ages 10-17 years old. Our interdisciplinary staff helps residents refocus their thinking patterns in order to improve their actions/behavior. Our diverse team works together to facilitate the changes that become an investment in the future of each young man's life and his family's life. We are located in the beautiful hills of Tennessee between two magnificent rivers, just 15 miles south of Waverly, Tennessee. Our spacious grounds occupy over 120 acres and include athletic fields, and alpine tower.

Natchez Trace Youth Academy is seeking a dynamic and talented Lead Patient Care Tech., to join our team of compassionate, dedicated individuals to help us continue our tradition of helping young men achieve the greatest chance of success possible.The Lead Patient Care Tech serves as the Lead to Mental Health Techs within a dormitory/unit. The Lead Tech oversees the development and implementation of patients' behavioral programs by providing care and close supervision of facility patients through line-of-sight supervision, coordinating activities, documenting behaviors, and providing a positive environment for staff and patients on the unit. The Lead Tech carries out the duties assigned by the Team Leader and works closely with therapists and clinicians to ensure all policies, procedures and treatment plans are followed. For the safety and security of residents, maintaining appropriate ratio of staff to patients is essential, and, therefore, may require overtime including working double shifts.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Leads in group therapy and assists supervising one-to-one therapy.
  • Observes the peer culture to see if any problems are present and recommends and implements solutions if necessary.
  • Coordinates the daily treatment program on their shift.
  • Assist in scheduling staff for maximum coverage and optimal use of staff.
  • Assists the Team Leader in training and orienting new staff.
  • Attends staff development training to insure updated material to complete with the changing job market and to meet all facility and regulatory training requirements.
  • Demonstrates thorough program knowledge via handbook test and daily activities in the milieu.
  • Maintains professional, effective working relationship and good rapport with members of all departments and direct care staff.
  • Assures compliance with company policies and procedures through diligent supervision and examination of all unit activity/workflow, including monitoring documentation for accuracy and legibility.
  • This responsibility requires being on-call when off duty. On-call responsibility includes the ability to come to work during emergency situations and facilitating additional back up staff when necessary.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent, required.
  • Bachelors Degree preferred in the fields of psychology, social work of criminal justice from an accredited college or university
  • One (1) year experience in a residential treatment or children's services program preferred.
  • Valid state driver's license.
