Job Description

About the Role:

The Quality Engineer has experience within a manufacturing environment, preferably within the transportation industry. The Quality Engineer will provide expert guidance on product and process design as they relate to compliance within the quality system.

The ideal candidate would have working knowledge of quality planning activities such as PFMEA, Error/Mistake proofing, Control Plans, Gage R&R, and Process Capability. Additional experience with ISO 9001, problem solving tools/methodologies, auditing, calibration, and inspection processes is preferred. The individual should have a mindset of critical thinking, continual improvement, change management, and quality built-in to processes. Effective communication and leadership qualities are critical because the role interacts with many levels of the organization.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Identifies, analyzes, and implements key quality systems in manufacturing that improve or stabilize product quality
  • Leads efforts for Quality deliverables (APQP, PFMEA, Control Plans, Process & System Maps) and other informational methods
  • Adjusts and makes corrections to existing quality systems or processes
  • Communicates effectively with and builds good relationships with cross-functional business unit and other department personnel
  • Gathers internal and external feedback
  • Solves problems and facilitates problem solving and process improvement efforts with others
  • Applies critical and statistical thinking to solve problems
  • Conducts effective training and meetings
  • Performs effective project management
  • Employs common tools, methods, and principles
  • Produces professional reports, presentations, audits, statistical summaries and systems
  • Plans and executes containment activities as needed
  • Leads/Manages team of QA Technicians
  • Communicates organizational vision and values to QA team
  • Builds teamwork within QA and between other departments and levels
  • Other duties as assigned

Let's Talk About Your Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, manufacturing, or other relevant discipline
  • 3 years of quality experience in a manufacturing environment is required
  • 2 years supervisor experience is preferred
  • Experience with ISO 9001
  • Experience with SPC, APQP, PFMEA, Control Plans
  • Problem Solving Skills/Tools
  • ASQ certification is a plus
  • Accredited Green Belt is a plus
  • Proficient computer skills & analytical tools (Office, PowerBI)
